Time commitments are flexible for key roles working alongside City agencies or helping with special event support, so even those with busy schedules can find the time to make a positive change.
Organizations like Hunger Fight, Dreams Come True, Teach for America and Kids Hope Alliance offer volunteer service opportunities to support children’s health and well-being in the First Coast region. Volunteers can work directly among JAX families and communities to address social issues at Hubbard House, Feeding Northeast Florida, Clara White Mission and Sulzbacher, or help support cancer research and treatment by volunteering at the American Cancer Society or at the national race weekend of the DONNA Marathon.
Local chapters of national organizations like United Way, Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity empower residents to get involved in a myriad of on-the-ground services like disaster-relief and building affordable housing.
The breathtaking ecological diversity of the First Coast also means that JAX residents take great pride in maintaining the pristine quality of their waterways through conservation groups like St. Johns Riverkeeper. And animal lovers can stay connected with their passion by putting in volunteer hours with the Jacksonville Humane Society.
There’s plenty of Jacksonville volunteering opportunities that go hand-in-hand with networking, so young professionals can build their careers in tandem with their community. Contrary to other regions, young professionals can make an impact on boards, YP groups and grassroots initiatives. NextUp JAX provides young professionals with a deep field of opportunities to volunteer, engage with their community and learn about current issues. Similarly, the Jacksonville Urban League challenges young professionals to empower their communities through outreach, philanthropy and leadership development.
No matter the industry or interest, JAX has a place for every young professional to pursue their passion and develop a close-knit relationship with their community. AIGA Jacksonville and Jacksonville Symphony’s UpTempo focus on uniting and inspiring the young creative community in JAX through involvement in the region’s rich arts and culture scene.
The Jacksonville Jaycees strive to give young professionals the tools they need to develop their leadership skills through volunteer groups and community service, while First Coast Rotaract promotes and practices the ideal of service above self.
