This role applies engineering principles to achieve cost-effective and functional designs, conducts research to support innovation, and assists in troubleshooting and testing activities. Essential Job Functions • Designs and develops electrical systems and components for assigned projects. • Prepares electrical drawings and delegates drafting tasks to drafters. • Develops specifications for materials and equipment purchases. • Communicates with vendors and manufacturers to source components. • Conducts component testing and validation, including competitive analysis. • Inspects and tests vendor-supplied and competitive components. • Assists in troubleshooting issues on training devices with guidance from mid- and senior-level engineers or technicians. • Performs limited software design and coding for Arduinos and PLCs as needed. • May be asked to layout/design Printed Circuit Board (PCB) parts. • Must be capable of safely handling government-furnished equipment and materials. • Must be available to work a standard weekly schedule with overtime as required. • Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities • None Job Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Solid understanding of electrical theory and engineering techniques. • Ability to read and interpret schematics. • Familiarity with lab tools (multimeter, power supplies, etc.). • Familiarity with engineering standards (ASME, IEEE, NEC, IEC, etc.). • Good computer skills with Microsoft Office applications. • Working knowledge of military connectors, terminals, wiring, and circuit protection a plus. • Working knowledge of both AC (single and three phase, 60-400Hz) and DC electrical systems a plus. • Working knowledge of serial communication protocols (RS232, RS482, RS422, ARINC-429, etc.) a plus. • Working knowledge of video (VGA, DVI, DP, HDMI) and communication (USB, Serial, Ethernet) connectivity a plus. • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies. • Experience in reverse-engineering a plus. • Must be able to travel. • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and in writing. • Must be able to obtain a security clearance when required by the contract. A Day in the Life of an Electrical Engineer – Medium/High Voltage at Hanson. This role requires licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to obtain licensure within six months. Here’s a snapshot of some of the tasks you may perform in this role: Design medium- and high-voltage power distribution and management systems for renewable energy projects such as solar, wind, BESS, EV charging, and microgrids. Traditional transmission and distribution design, both underground and overhead. Prepare specifications, calculations, drawings, and full construction packages for complex electrical systems and equipment ranging from 15kV up to 200kV, including three-line diagrams, substation layouts, grounding design, protection studies, and sag/tension analyses. Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews to ensure compliance with corporate, national, and client standards. Provide technical support to field personnel for medium- and high-voltage collection systems, substations, and transmission equipment up to 200kV. Perform electrical studies including short-circuit, arc flash, load flow, power factor, relay coordination, capacity analysis, reliability analysis, and ampacity calculations. Troubleshoot electrical equipment issues within supported renewable energy facilities. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—such as civil and structural engineers—and remotely coordinate with colleagues across multiple offices. Conduct due diligence, feasibility, conceptual design studies, and inverter-based resource (IBR) interconnection studies; prepare utility master plan reports. Participate in project management tasks, including client meetings, system design coordination, equipment selection, technical specification development, shop drawing review, and construction administration. Mentor engineering and design personnel within the Power Market team. Travel occasionally for client meetings, field reviews, and project assignments, with flexibility to work extended hours when project deadlines require. Perform other duties as assigned by market principals and project managers. What We’re Looking For We feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role: Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and/or PLS-CADD. Experience using power analysis software such as EasyPower, ETAP, or SKM Power Tools. Familiarity with voltage drop, fault current, and arc flash analysis tools (EDR, EasyPower, ETAP, SKM). Knowledge of CDGES software; experience with GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) and Synergi is a plus. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to engineers, clients, and stakeholders. Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize, handle conflicting deadlines, and maintain attention to detail. Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Ability to meet all pre-employment requirements, including background checks, drug screening, and MVR review as applicable. Education/Experience: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.     Summary of Position: Midwest Hose is seeking a skilled and self-motivated Mobile Service Technician to join our team. This role involves operating a fully equipped mobile hose shop, providing on-site hose assembly and repair services directly at customer locations.
