Position Overview
Challenge Enterprises of North Florida, Inc. is seeking a dependable and compassionate Group Home Lead to support the daily operations of our two residential group homes at Austrian Court and Hemlock Court. This role works closely with the Group Home Supervisor to maintain high-quality services, support residents, and ensure agency and regulatory standards are consistently met.
The Group Home Lead serves as backup to the Group Home Supervisor and is expected to flex the work schedule based on the needs of the homes. Responsibilities include staffing coverage, resident appointments, medication and record review, audits, community activities, daily living support, financial transactions, documentation, and personalized assistance based on each resident’s goals and abilities.
What You’ll Do
Leadership & Home Operations
Serve as backup to the Group Home Supervisor and provide leadership support across both residential homes
Work scheduled shifts in the group homes and provide staffing coverage when needed to maintain continuity of care
Be available for emergencies and adjust the work schedule when home, resident, or staffing needs require additional support
Support staff training and reinforce expectations related to resident care, appearance, safety, and daily routines
Maintain cooperative communication with supervisors, staff, families, community partners, and volunteers
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with Challenge Enterprises policies and procedures and applicable governing standards, including CMS, AHCA, Qlarant, iBudget, and the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD)
Assist with emergency supply, First Aid kit, and individual resident emergency kit requirements
Report medication errors and critical or non-critical incidents to the Group Home Supervisor immediately
Serve as a mandated reporter for suspected or witnessed abuse or neglect
Participate in annual licensing reviews and audits conducted by governing agencies
Resident Support & Medical Care
Support residents with activities of daily living, including cooking, cleaning, grooming, hygiene, dressing, and other individualized needs
Schedule, attend, and document resident appointments and provide accurate information to medical professionals
Transport residents to appointments, community activities, emergency rooms, walk-in care, and other approved locations
Follow through with medical instructions and maintain detailed resident medical records
Support residents during physical, behavioral, emotional, or medical concerns while maintaining dignity and person-centered care
Medication & Documentation
Review Therap T-Logs and S-Comms daily and maintain accurate electronic documentation
Assist with monitoring and auditing Medication Administration Records (MAR), controlled medication counts, medication destruction records, and resident medications for accuracy
Maintain accurate documentation related to resident services, medical care, incidents, activities, and required records
Use electronic timekeeping and electronic health record systems accurately and consistently
Financial & Administrative Support
Assist with resident financial records, bank statement reconciliation, receipts, petty cash, room and board payments, budgeting, and other financial obligations
Review financial records for accuracy and communicate budget or financial concerns to residents and staff when appropriate
Assist with preparation of the annual licensing application and required documentation
Community Engagement & Communication
Advocate and communicate with Waiver Support Coordinators regarding resident needs
Assist with developing a monthly calendar of resident-selected activities that are age appropriate, reasonable, and financially appropriate
Participate in community activities with residents and support meaningful inclusion
Use appropriate communication methods, including visual or written supports and basic sign language when needed until an interpreter is available
Attend formal, informal, and in-service training required for professional development and APD compliance
Operational Responsibilities
Assist with menu implementation, grocery shopping, and maintaining a clean and safe home environment
Follow all agency policies, procedures, confidentiality expectations, and professional standards
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the needs of the residential program

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a nonprofit human services setting providing services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities; 3 years of experience preferred
Proven leadership skills and supervisory experience
Ability to pass required background screenings and maintain a satisfactory 3-year driving record
Ability to maintain required certifications and training, including First Aid, CPR, Medication Administration and Validation, HIV/Infection Control, Zero Tolerance, and other APD-required training
Ability to travel throughout the community, transport residents, attend professional appointments, and participate in required training
Ability to communicate professionally in writing and verbally and maintain an alternative communication method when needed
Successful completion of the required 60-day training period
Physical Requirements
This position requires participation in residents’ scheduled and individual activities, travel to meetings and training sessions, and transportation of residents to appointments and events. The role may involve occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, transporting, climbing, stooping, carrying items, and assisting with walkers and wheelchairs.
